Facebook Connect login is launched

Now anyone can logon to Ubetoo using their Facebook profile. Once logged in they can:

Comment on songs and videos
Post in people's guestbooks

All their posts will be identified with, and linked to, their Facebook profile and Ubetoo will automatically log them in on Ubetoo if they're online on Facebook at the same time. However, in order to use the full Ubetoo service, such as uploading videos and music, creating a Ubetoo profile and adding friends etc., members will have to sign up for a real Ubetoo account.

Ubetoo opens up for Facebook users

Some of the login-required functions on Ubetoo.com, such as commenting on songs and videos and posting in people's guestbook will soon be opened for all Facebook users! We are currently testing Facebook Connect and making a few adjustments to this neat service. Using Facebook Connect when logging in has several advantages; users who just want to listen to music or watch videos and comment on them or post in the artists' guestbooks can do so without having to sign up with Ubetoo. The users still identify themselves with their ID and Ubetoo gets required, useful information on the visitor in order to offer the service.

In the next step we will post actions on the users' Facebook wall, if the users agree to it, which gives this connection a huge viral effect among friends on Facebook.

External player with paid plays launched!

The external player which can be posted on your website, in your blog and on your MySpace page, has just been launched. All qualified plays will give you 25 percent of the ad revenue your song or video generates!

And here's an example on a manipulated player. I set the height to 170 so that is only shows the add and thus takes up less space in height. The ad will show up after 5 seconds. The song will be counted as played when the song has been played a certain percentage of the song's total playing time. Voting is possible after 10 seconds play.

External Ubetoo plays to be paid

We're currently working on a solution to show advertisement in our externally embedded player which means Ubetoo members will be paid for all qualified plays outside Ubetoo.com as well. Today only local qualified plays are paid which means an artist earn a share of the monthly advertisement income every time his/her media is played on http://www.ubetoo.com/. However, it is currently not clear if an external qualified play will be worth as much as a local one. Development is in progress and a beta may be out this autumn.

Spotify and Telia to bundle services

Swedish music service Spotify, running a similar survice like Ubetoo.com, but for unsigned artists, is today announcing its brand new partnership with Telia. Telia will integrate Spotify's services with its own, starting with free music accessed through digital-TV.

Next step will be to start selling mobile phone subscriptions on flat rate basis including the Spotify Premium membership in the price. Just what I've been waiting for! Spotify Premium hasn't quite been a success yet, but with this collaboration Spotify's pay membership will most likely become a huge success, while Telia gets valuable content into its TV and mobile network.

I sure will follow this development with excitement! ;) Thumbs up!

New features in the Ubetoo October release

Ubetoo.com is now updated with a bunch of much awaited new features. For example Ubetoo.com now uses Facebook Connect to integrate user actions on Ubetoo with the users' Facebook log. Everytime somebody uploads a new song or video, creates a new event or changes his/her profile on Ubetoo.com, the Facebook log is updated with this action, and is also linking back to the material on Ubetoo.com. With the help of the Facebook Connect platform you'll easily tell all your Facebook friends what you're doing on Ubetoo and boost traffic to your Ubetoo pages. Which gives you more money in the end!

Another popular update is the Playlist Sharing feature which allows you to share your own playlists with all visitors on Ubetoo.com. Create playlists containing your own material or your favorite songs and videos made by others and let everybody know your taste. They can even save your playlist as a favorite for frequent use. Since each playlist has a unique playlist URL you can spread links on blogs, forums, social communities and bookmarking services and even your own homepage to attract a bigger audience to your and other people's pages and material.

Last but not least we've added the much asked-for possibility to sort the order of your songs and videos, the way they show on your profile and player pages. Other features include a new reply function for messages and the chance to remove unwanted guestbook and song/video posts and comments.

The next generation of new entertainment

Ubetoo has recently launched a new beta site with a whole new layout, new and improved payment method, and a lot of new features.

Video & Song categories
The categories will now appear directly on the startpage and in the Songs and Video pages, you can see all the toplists, even within each category.

My friends
Now you can become friends with other members on Ubetoo. All your friends can be seen under the top menu Friends. Adding friends will enable you to control which people can use certain functions. www.ubetoo.com/members/friends.aspx

Friends log
Keep track of what all your friends are doing on Ubetoo. You can now see when they comment, post in guest books, rate songs and videos, and when they change something in their profile.

Promoted Spotlight
Two promoted songs/videos are randomly selected and are displayed a little extra on the site. You can promote you song/video with an SMS (only in Sweden) or through in-links (all). If you link to Ubetoo from an external page, you can let us know which page your link is on. If your in-link is approved, your song/video will be promoted for 24h. Click Promote under the player to submit a request.

Member Events
You can now add your gigs, release parties, signings and other happenings under Events. You can choose whether all users or only your friends can see your events.

Log - Guest Book, Comments, Uploads, Profile Changes
At the bottom of every page there is now a log with all the latest activity on Ubetoo. You can see when other users post in guest books, comment on songs/videos, upload material, or make changes to their profiles. http://www.ubetoo.com/

Your Homepage has become more important and more personal. You can insert a big picture and create both a short and long presentation. Also, all your external links have become clickable. Users can see your latest uploads, all your songs/videos, guestbook posts, and your recent activities on Ubetoo.

Custom URL
Now you can create a personalized URL for your Homepage. Eg www.ubetoo.com/MyName. To get a certain URL, you have to be the first person to register for it.

There is now a new list that appears when a song/video is playing. The list shows other song/video suggestions that other users also played in addition to the song/video you are currently playing.

You can create as many playlists as you like! Save your favorite songs and sort them into different lists by mood, style, etc. Click Add to playlist to add a song/video to one of your lists or to create a new one.

New play rules
For a play to provide payment, the song/video must be played a certain length of the total playing time. Rating can be done after a few seconds of listening. IP addresses are unique once every 24h. All statistics are updated every hour on the hour.
