Facebook Connect login is launched

Now anyone can logon to Ubetoo using their Facebook profile. Once logged in they can:

• Comment on songs and videos
• Post in people's guestbooks

All their posts will be identified with, and linked to, their Facebook profile and Ubetoo will automatically log them in on Ubetoo if they're online on Facebook at the same time. However, in order to use the full Ubetoo service, such as uploading videos and music, creating a Ubetoo profile and adding friends etc., members will have to sign up for a real Ubetoo account.

Ubetoo opens up for Facebook users

Some of the login-required functions on Ubetoo.com, such as commenting on songs and videos and posting in people's guestbook will soon be opened for all Facebook users! We are currently testing Facebook Connect and making a few adjustments to this neat service. Using Facebook Connect when logging in has several advantages; users who just want to listen to music or watch videos and comment on them or post in the artists' guestbooks can do so without having to sign up with Ubetoo. The users still identify themselves with their ID and Ubetoo gets required, useful information on the visitor in order to offer the service.

In the next step we will post actions on the users' Facebook wall, if the users agree to it, which gives this connection a huge viral effect among friends on Facebook.

External player with paid plays launched!

The external player which can be posted on your website, in your blog and on your MySpace page, has just been launched. All qualified plays will give you 25 percent of the ad revenue your song or video generates!

And here's an example on a manipulated player. I set the height to 170 so that is only shows the add and thus takes up less space in height. The ad will show up after 5 seconds. The song will be counted as played when the song has been played a certain percentage of the song's total playing time. Voting is possible after 10 seconds play.

External Ubetoo plays to be paid

We're currently working on a solution to show advertisement in our externally embedded player which means Ubetoo members will be paid for all qualified plays outside Ubetoo.com as well. Today only local qualified plays are paid which means an artist earn a share of the monthly advertisement income every time his/her media is played on http://www.ubetoo.com/. However, it is currently not clear if an external qualified play will be worth as much as a local one. Development is in progress and a beta may be out this autumn.

Spotify and Telia to bundle services

Swedish music service Spotify, running a similar survice like Ubetoo.com, but for unsigned artists, is today announcing its brand new partnership with Telia. Telia will integrate Spotify's services with its own, starting with free music accessed through digital-TV.

Next step will be to start selling mobile phone subscriptions on flat rate basis including the Spotify Premium membership in the price. Just what I've been waiting for! Spotify Premium hasn't quite been a success yet, but with this collaboration Spotify's pay membership will most likely become a huge success, while Telia gets valuable content into its TV and mobile network.
